Founded In Singapore, Built On The Game
British Football Academy was started in February 2018, when Programme Director David Phelps joined forces with co-founder Andy to bring professional academy standards to youth football in Singapore.
The British Football Academy offers the chance for children in Singapore to reach their potential in football. The academy sees its players as children first, football players second, and aims to ensure that children enjoy their experience and develop into well-rounded people, whilst also pushing them to improve their football skills.
Coaching Philosophy
In the Foundation Phase the aim is to love the game and stay in love with it: high levels of technical repetition, freedom to make mistakes, creativity and confidence. In the Development Phase players learn to be competitive, understand attacking, defending and transition principles, and take ownership of their own development.
Underneath it all sit the values we coach in every session: hard work, respect, listening skills and teamwork.
International Reach
BFA teams travel on international tours, and our partner network connects players to opportunities in the United Kingdom, United States and Spain. Athlete development is tracked through our official partner, SportsHub-Network.
Meet The Team
David Phelps
Dave started his journey in professional football at Pro Football Support, working with over 30 professional football academies in England, including Premier League Bournemouth and Huddersfield Town. At FC Halifax Town he helped set up a new academy and served as assistant first-team strength and conditioning coach, a role that culminated in victory in the FA Trophy at Wembley Stadium.
He moved to Singapore in 2016, and in February 2018 joined Andy in starting British Football Academy. Dave holds a BSc in Sports Coaching from Leeds Metropolitan University, FA Level 2 and Youth Module licenses, and over 15 years of experience working with young players.
Ashraf Aziz
Ashraf has competed as a player in the Singapore Football League Division 1 and 2 over several seasons and brings over 10 years of coaching experience with youth from local and international academies and schools in Singapore. He holds a Diploma in Sports Coaching, is a current AFC B Licence candidate, and is certified with the Scottish FA Level 1 Coaching qualification.
A lifelong learner of the game, he is passionate about helping players reach their full potential by creating a safe, supportive environment where they are encouraged to enjoy the game, embrace mistakes, and grow.
